Rod seals

Rod seals are designed for use in hydraulic systems, specifically for sealing dynamic components such as the piston rod in hydraulic cylinders. They operate in dynamic sealing interfaces, where reciprocating motion and variable working conditions are present.

Due to exposure to friction, contaminants, and pressure fluctuations, rod seals are manufactured from wear-resistant materials capable of withstanding mechanical stress and contact with hydraulic media. Their construction allows them to adapt to continuous changes on the rod surface, maintaining reliable sealing performance throughout operation.

Proper selection of the seal profile and dimensions is essential to ensure sealing efficiency and service life. Depending on the design of the hydraulic cylinder and operating parameters, various rod seal types are available, including:

  • U-cup seals

  • PTFE seals (e.g., K35)

  • Profiles such as OMS-MR and TSS

  • Fabric-reinforced rubber seal sets (e.g., K01, K04, DT3)
